Have tried two sets of mice and keyboards and both have issues with this game.

This keyboard any button can randomly cause a selected unit the retreat. Frequently the retreat response is delayed.

This keyboard and mouse works great for the first few minutes of a game and then the keyboard will start to lag. Eventually the hotkeys stop working all together. Doesn't happen every game, but when it does, it's a serious disadvantage. 

I use logitech k400, crappy but it works great. Only important thing that somebody here pointed out was that one has to connect the keyboard before the mouse.

Never had that issue myself. Maybe try another set.
