[COH1] Opposing Fronts crash on Storm Front mission of Liberation of Caen campaign?

Playing the Steam relaunch version, and all of the missions before this one I was able to play fine. Suddenly I go "continue" after the "Crucible" mission and I get kicked to the main menu after the loading screen. If I try to load the mission from the main menu I get a CTD.


I know this is an old game and old campaign but anyone have any ideas? Playing on Windows 10, 1080 card, very recent drivers blah blah blah.

Check this and see if It's work

Users\[YOUR-USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes Relaunch\Local.ini


Find this line:

screendevice=DirectX10 Rendering Device

Change it to:

screendevice=DirectX11 Rendering Device

Thanks, I'll try that, but I can't figure out why DirectX 11 would be required suddenly when it wasn't for the previous missions in the same campaign. I'll let you know how it goes.

OK, still got a crash to desktop after making the change you mentioned. Can I upload the .dmp file? I changed video cards yesterday (from a 1080 to a 3060 Ti) but the behavior and circumstances were the same. I have reported all the crashes through the Relic crash reporter app that comes up, and included my email and name. For some reason the app reports an XML file I cannot find where it mentions, but I did find one generated at the same time called "bugsplat.log" (edited contents below) as well as the .dmp file.

So, no reply? Well, I know the Allies won the war anyway, and I presume the Brits took Caen. ;-)
