I haven't played COH 2 in a few years but wanted to start playing again recently. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. When I'm in the main menu and I click on ''custom game'', the next screen is empty where the player slots should be. When I go back to the main menu, I get an error message that says the game can't connect to the server.
Windows is up to date, Steam client is too.
Here's what I tried to solve the problem:
Installed Windows updates
Looked for available Steam client updates
Checked game for broken files
Readded COH2 to Windows Firewall exceptions
Turned off Windows Firewall and Windows virus protection
Connected with VPN, connected without VPN
Uninstalled VPN app
Switched to mobile data to see if it's the router causing the problems
Contacted customer support of the notebook manufacturer to ask whether preinstalled software might cause the trouble, they say it's unlikely
My sytem: GIGABYTE G5 MF 5 notebook with Intel Core i7-13620H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX4050 and Windows 11 Home 64-bit.
No separate antivirus software.
I'm having similar problems with other games too, namely COH1, Northgard and Anno 2070. The latter two are playable, but only in singleplayer and the online features don't work, as these games also can't connect to their respective servers.
