Update 1.7.0 Release Date

The Company of Heroes team has decided to move our next planned update from June to a target date of July 16th. With this additional time, we’ll be able to further polish and validate the work we have planned, while also including some impactful improvements that you have been wanting to see, or rather, hear, for quite some time. 


As a reminder, these are the gameplay and quality of life improvements that we have already teased coming in 1.7.0: 

  • Enhanced and redesigned abilities on two units per Faction 

  • A new 4v4 map for all modes  

  • Italian Campaign Map improvements  

  • Towing & Vehicle improvements


Moving our release date to July means we can also include: 

  • Audio Improvements for Small Arms, Vehicles & Bespoke Moments 

  • VFX Improvements targeting immersion 

  • Random Faction Selection 

  • Infantry Time-To-Kill adjustments to make early game combat more impactful (more details on this in the future!) 

  • Player Profile Match History 

  • Battlegroup UI Overhaul 

  • Plus, several more quality of life and gameplay improvements

Losing models in early game is already a considerable cost, considering many players are vying for the tactic of skipping healing option to save fuel and rushing out an impactful light vehicle in 1v1 (greyhound, humber, 8rad, 221) before going back to get heal. This decision might already exacerbate the problem of game not lasting more than 5 min or oversnowballing. Frankly i dont like the sound at all.

Late game enjoyment is still not addressed, matches typically last very short, is rare to get a late game vehicle like the tiger or maybe once you called it you don’t get to used it as much, please bring back the late game heavier tanks gameplay and vet units enjoyment in the late game. This game is about light vehicle rush and spamming plus infantry spamming is just not enjoyable. DO BETTER.

Woe be upon those 4 man and below squads. Not a fan of current coh2s TTK so I hope its not that drastic. These early game TTK changes are going to drastically change mid to late game infantry viability but maybe I am just too worried about a return to coh2 where nobody bothers using cover past 5 minutes because A-move blobs are the most viable thing to do, trying to use cover and positioning is just wasted micro especially with heat seeking indirect auto fire.

Speak for yourself man. I get Tigers out pretty consistently and face off against Tigers a lot

Super excited for those additions even if it means later than sooner x)

Infantry Time to Kill hopefully will mean using cover MORE by exposing out of cover blobs to harsher accuracy penalties. (looking at you dirty USF para/rangers mass blobs)
I wish the game forced individual models to seek out cover or change posture on their own if they are standing out of cover, like CoH1, because it diminished the effectiveness of badly positioned units.

Additionally out of cover units should 100% receive suppression from any kind of fire, indirect or small arms / rifle salvo.

Extremely keen on hearing SMG sound rework, this has been a very specific topic of mine along the sound track music ^^

I agree with Rommel505.

The games last way too short. In all modes. The tickrate is too fast.

Once you get lategame units, the game is usually closed and over.


Revise the tickrate, or make the default VP number be 625.


Or maybe, the default VP changes with modes?
500 for 1v1

550 for 2v2

600 for 3v3

625 for 4v4

I would really like to know some numbers, what is the average time on a game in all modes (1vs1,2vs2,etc) I ll bet you they are less than 20 even 15 min on average specially 1vs1 and 2vs2, people typically quit long before the games potential outcome, with the banning systems things improved a little but still people just quit after something goes wrong specially early instead of trying to make a comeback which I find personally one the most exciting things of the coh franchise. If you fight back hard you should be able to get comeback and win , the VP thrilling wars at the end are none existent is too quick and unsatisfactory. It doesn't give the goose bumps and excitement edge of your seat moments coh2 did.

Тhank you for your work. The whole community, which has a serious audience from the first series, thanks you for what you do. SOUND is one of the key game features that emphasized all the fury of heavy artillery and tanks. When shell bursts played a significant role. Make more battlegroups and maps. i REALLY look forward to the time to kill changes for infantry as well as audio rework for small arms. I agree with ppl here in the comments about the lategame, very rarely do you see vetted heavy tanks and vetted elite infantry aside for allied call ins.

Finally a substantial infantry decrease in ttk. Now we don't have to fall asleep watching starter infantry shoot paint balls at each other.

I love those moments when you manage to get out of a really difficult situation as a team and win the game after all. 

Those turn arounds are great!

COH3 rarely allows that at the moment. (seems far more difficult than in coh2) 

It could be the VP rate, it could also be how the resource income is in relation to the upkeep. I am not the expert for that.


I would love to see more come backs!

I am enjoying COH 3 more 'n more, the balance is very good atm, the early game punishing sounds like a great feature ! It's hard to be honest to be behind green cover and having units rushing you in the open, without thinking about it twice... and still pwng your units in green cover...

I personally went through games where my opponent is getting his ass kicked and made massive comebacks with 50 VPs left, and I am having like 400+ VP tickets left... so I think the VP pace is just perfect atm. If the games last longer, we will be having games lasting waaaay too much, 15-25 min per game sounds good, past 35 min it gets epic but to remain epic it has to be a few of them...not all of them

same thinking here, the Tiger is here "to turn the tide" which is its sole purpose, have a one late game hero for axis, with longer games you will get pop caped on both sides and can end up with games of 90 min.... an average game of 60 min will be no fun, and for little elo each time people will get tired quickly... imagine a 3 loss streak of 3 hours each... 


DONT TOUCH THE VPs Please ! it will imply a huge change in the balance and we are getting closer to a very balanced game !


@John_RE any release of new skins for the shop? it will be cool to have the full sets of fallen leaves for Wehrmacht and amphibious assault for USF :)

Please remove or rework the manpower discount abilities. They make the balance a nightmare.

Your point is very good, but I somewhat disagree. Comebacks rarely happen. In 100 games where you start off losing especially lose 3VPs, I think only 10 games that can  manage  to c comeback. In my experience, it must be combined with luck, such as my units' shots being very precise, my opponent suddenly encountering pathing issues, or my opponent intends to prolong the game and messes up. Therefore mostly game is like playing half. you're winning = opponent surrender or vise vesa.
