Apparently I killed a tank company and have ruined my game, as the campaign restarts after the Salerno defence mission.

I cant work out how to load an old game. The only option I see from the menu is load the last game which takes me straight back to the Salerno mission. When I try to reload from in mission it shows no saves at all... Although I am sure I saw all of my saves somewhere.

It's there, just hidden. You click Single Player then Italian Campaign. If you're like me, then you didn't try that because it says "start campaign" on it. But they're just kidding. After you click it, there's a load button.

Perhaps "start" means something different in Canadian?

it's fine, it's working now.

The trick is to exit COH3, enter file name in steam properties, close steam properties window and then launch COH3, the game starts automatically.
