I've replayed this three times now (finally thought to make a save file at the end of the mission), and have the same result, an infantry company attacking me, and triggering the 'defend anzio' mission tries to retreat, but doesn't move, and the entire map locks up, crashing the game. Been a very frustrating bug. I saw something similar to this on reddit, and it said to try validating the game files. Did that, but still have the same issue.
Right now, the campaign is broken, so would love some help on this or a workaround. Thanks!
OMG I got this exact same thing - a German unit that just seems to 'dance' on the beach and the AI just doesn't move on so - you you have to close the game down. I sent this to support and given the usual that the devs will look at it in due course.
I thought it was just bad luck so I have started all over again and am just coming to this mission so I do hope it doesn't happen again.
By the way, I don't suppose you know how to load a unit on a ship from Tarracena or Gaeta and move it to Anzio. I am sure I did this last time but don't seem to be able to do again?
@AgentUnknown, I don't know about loading troops, but what I did is request a company from the dakota battleship, then move the battleship to outside Anzio and land it that way.

Hope to have an update soon they say. Yet we all just sit here with this broken shit they've already taken money for and no results. A work around bug is one thing... Completely broken story game mechanics is quite another problem.... after hours of OUR dedication and you just sit there twiddling your thumbs, fucking around. You know we sit here for weeks not being able to finish the story WE PAID FOR, while you give us potentially empty promises? Eventually we go find a new game because we can't simply wait for you for weeks. Then people lose interest and trust in you. That's why your reviews are such shit. I feel no commitment from Relic in addressing the serious bugs that still affect this game. its why I hate giving you my money first, just to hope you'll still fix your shit.
