Relic - are you ever going to make USF balanced or fun to play in 4v4's? The game has been out a year and it's still terrible in 4v4's. If you filter the results from COH3STATS by ELO, US has win rates in the low 40% range. That is terrible balance by anyone's standard. It gets pulled up by Brits but hits 50% only if you're lucky enough to get paired with three good Brit players.
IMO - There are two primary causes for this, tech costs and exclusive upgrades. In order to field a basic army with infantry, mortars, mg's, and AT guns, the USF tech cost is 520 MP and 100 fuel. DAK pays 260/75. Wehr pays 250/55. Brits pay 360/70. The three factions that are similar are also fairly well balanced. There is an easy solution to this which would be to move the US AT gun from the Motor Pool to the WSC and require that one of the support centers be built, exactly the same as the Halftrack. The US costs would then drop to 320/55, which would be close enough to being balanced.
The second problem is the exclusive upgrades from the support centers. US infantry needs the upgrades to scale into late game. The MP bleed without the upgrades will cause a loss due to attrition. However, going ISC means that you can't get Improvised Armor or the 76mm upgrade, which makes both Sherman variants not worth the investment, so your army ends up being a horde of Rangers and Rifles. That works okay against 1000-1200 ELO players, but gets beat badly by better players. Plus, it isn't really fun to play with this massive, one-dimensional army.
There are some smaller problems that contribute but aren't as egregious. Brit, DAK, and Wehr all get decent stock artillery. The US only gets it through Spec Ops and Advanced Infantry. It would also help if stock US faction was complete like the other three factions. Putting the Pack Howie in the MSC or the Scott was in the Tank Depot would help. They also need the barrage range adjusted to where it should have been. The real-life Scott and Pack Howie had more than double the range of the LEIG, Walking Stuka, or Nebel Werfer. In game, Pack Howies continually get wiped by Nebels with their incendiary or Walking Stukas.
The other small issue is offmaps abilities. Axis have offmaps that are devastating to US, expecially in long narrow maps. Zeroing, Artillery Cover, and Obice are all effective against US. The Stuka loiter is also really good unless there is a ton of AA. The US doesn't have anything like it. The 155mm might destroy a tank if you don't respond at all (more than 20 seconds from the time the smoke hits). Carpet Bombing doesn't usually destroy full health tanks. The P47 Rocket Strafe is a joke. It only hits someone's tank if they are on a bio break, and even then will take only half of the health of a tank, while still costing 2/3 of the cost of the Stuka Loiter. Directionally, all of this seems wrong. You gave Axis better armor. Anyone playing a WWII sim would expect that. However, you also gave them better artillery and air support which nobody would expect.
Lastly, Relic, I'd really like to know if you read this and if you're going to do anything different about balance or keep doing the same.
